travels: cali's central coast - part deux
you gotta bike ride around downtown slo. it's the best way to experience the city. my wife janet, who is not much of cyclist (other than when it sits on the trainer watching her tv shows online) was able to do it with me. it was fun. grabbed the canon and snapped away. our favorite brunch spot is "big sky cafe." killer chile quiles (spelled right?). hit the train station after. like every kid, i was obsessed with trains. it's crazy but my favorite part about trains are rails, especially where it comes to a point where you can switch from one rail to another. i've never done this, but one of these days, i would to love to do that. we also hit the famous gum wall. there are some nasty things stuck over there (use your imagination). in a mood for some ribs? then hit up "mo's bbq." pig really do fly. visit the mission also. it's right in the heart of the city.

travels: cali's central coast
one of our favorite vacation spots has been in the central coast. it's beautiful. the weather, the air, the beaches. over the past few years, we have visited this area quite often, as my sister-in-law, april, was a architectural student at cal poly slo. the food is awesome. one spot is one NOT TO MISS is firestone grill. they're known for their tri-tip everything (sandwiches, salads) and fries. we also stopped by hearst castle. i've never been there. what a great experience. well, actually, the only sight i found hands down amazing was the pool. everything else was redundant - same old themes, etc. i'm a big fan of piers. i could just hang out all day hear / watch the waves crash the shore - peaceful. at the base of hearst castle is san simeon pier. on the way back to slo, i capture a photo of morro rock. it's huge!!!
